The Personality Assessment Illusion

Mental Health

There is a notion that who you are today, and why you are who you are, is stagnant or unchanging.

In traditional psychology, they will teach you that through Myers-Briggs or DISC or some popular personality assessment, or you have psychologists or teachers that will talk to you about who you are, they will give you elements of you and it will look like you and it will feel like you, and you’ll go “Oh yeah, I am that person!”

I’m going to challenge that. That’s not who you are – that is merely a reflection of the “mental software” that you’re running. And when you begin to change that software, with new tools and new “neural” success commands, you begin changing instantly.

Just like if we took a snapshot of you today and looked at your hairstyle and looked at the clothes that you’re wearing, and looked at the setting that you picked to have it, when we take a neural snapshot of you (which is what a personality test is), we’re merely looking at what you think, what you feel, what you believe, how you process the world at the time of the “picture.”

And you may think that I am disparaging the mental health field, or mental health professionals. I’m not disparaging the professionals.

Traditional psychology and traditional self-help, they’re not bad. They’re not evil, they’re not stupid – they’re just old. They talk about things that have a basis in Freudian psychology that was great information 120 years ago. Today, it’s out of date.

Because just like in the olden days a hundred years ago, you can look at the fact that well-intended doctors and nurses who really cared about their patients, were still putting leaches on fingers trying to suck out evil vapors, and they had been aware of the existence of soap and anti-bacterial for decades – it just hadn’t filtered down to the last doctor, the last nurse.

The last doctor to put a leech on somebody’s finger to suck out evil vapors did so with a pure heart and a great intention to heal them. He just didn’t believe in soap yet. They cared a lot, just as today there are traditional psychologists and traditional teachers that are giving you wisdom that they believe is true – it’s just a hundred years old.

Anything based on Freudian psychology is over a hundred years old. It’s not the latest and greatest and what we really know. We have upgraded tremendous amounts of our body of knowledge of how our mind functions. We know more about how your mind functions, about the brain, about the mind, and how we create reality.

Psychology has elevated itself. The earth is not flat, and leeches on fingers do not suck out evil vapors. There are science elements in the latest and greatest of “Neural sciences” or “Neural Linguistic Programming” – they’re big words but it’s a very simple science.

The Inevitable You® coaching system utilizes some of the great foundational elements found in older schools of thought. However, it also incorporates some of the latest breakthroughs available from science-based technologies.

You are not fixed, you are stuck as your “personality assessment” results. You are a function of your “mental software” that is very easily changed through new tools!
