How many times have we told ourselves we are going to change a habit or a part of our lives only to go right back to that same behavior a short time later?
If you’re like most people it’s embarrassing to admit how many times you’ve done the above. Here are four reasons why so many of us fail so often to change:
- We believe that we can’t change. We believe that change is possible. We believe that others can change, but we don’t believe that we can. We then create a story to hide why we can’t change.
- We don’t really, deep inside, want to change. Our current condition serves us in a way that we value more or fear less than the changed state. We then create a story to hide why we can’t change.
- We tell ourselves that we don’t know how to change. This is a story that we create to hide the truth.
- We simply don’t use the tools for change that we know. Buried deep in a neural pattern or equation, there is a reason why you don’t have what you want.
But here’s the thing, no matter how many times you’ve tried to change in the past and failed, rest assured, you can change.
That’s right, you can change …
You can feel better …
You can be happier …
You can feel more fulfilled and content …
You can achieve greater success …
You can be a better parent …
You can be a better partner and lover …
Are you familiar with the game, “Jenga?” You know where you have a tower and you pull logs out one by one hoping the tower doesn’t fall?
Well, it may help you to understand what I’m talking about today by picturing your life as the tower in the Jenga game. You’ve built this entire tower of illusion that is your life, a tower filled with “you can’t do this,” “you don’t deserve that,” “that’s not possible,” etc.
But if you find that one log that is holding everything up, the one log that is keeping you from the life you deserve, and you pull it out … guess what happens?
The whole tower of illusions and lies comes crumbling down and you are then free to begin building the life you’ve always wanted, a life where you are happy and loved and successful.
