To get to where you want to go and be who you want to be, you must design the person in the future and act accordingly. When you really design yourself in the future, your thoughts, feelings, actions, and bring that person to the present, that is when you create the most success.
One of the common questions I get is “how do I design a future “me” and be that person now?”
Here’s a really cool tool called the “I Have a Dream” speech. I want you to think back in your mind’s eye to Martin Luther King’s speech on the Washington mall that day, “I have a dream that one day my children will be judged by the content of their character and not by the content of their skin. I have a dream that one day sons of former slaves and sons of former slave owners will sit down at a table of brotherhood. I have a dream!”
I teach this as a tool, I do this all the time, I still get goose pimples just hearing, thinking, feeling, and doing that speech. That’s the power of an “I have a dream” speech.
Now when you look at the fact that most people, when they create their future goals, they really do not have a powerful vision and dream about their outcome. The top 1-3% of people, the most successful people on the planet, set their goals as something that has already happened, it’s in the past and they act as if it is already accomplished.
So when you think about, “How can it be 2025 and I have an outcome for myself?”, you have to truly feel it and envision it. I want you to think about it this way, put it in an “I have a dream” format. So think about the fact that the top 1-3% are sitting there going, “OK, it’s Feb 1st and I’m 180 lbs.” That has a lot of power and when they go through the diet process, they will have their difficulties and ease, and good days and bad days. When you put it in an “I have a dream” format, it looks something like this: “I have a dream that my body at 180 lbs moves and ripples with flexibility and energy. I have a dream that I go to bed exhausted and I sleep like a baby and I jump out of bed full of energy, I have a dream! Food isn’t emotion, food isn’t love, food is fuel! I love food because it puts this great body in motion, I have a dream!”
When I ask people if they have ever used this tool, and they say no, like all neural pattern work, everybody is doing it! Do you know how most people use it? It sounds something like this, “I have a nightmare! My life is hard, I hate this diet, I can’t do this, I have a nightmare! It’s so hard trying to do this, I’m exhausted all the time I think of my favorite dessert all the time, I hate this diet. I have a nightmare!” Most people create fear and doubt around a difficult objective or goal, they have a nightmare instead of a dream. They do not believe in their potentiality and they will complain about how hard it is and make excuses for why they can’t do it. Reliving the nightmare makes it harder and harder for you to get out of your comfort zone and take massive actions because there is fear and doubt associated to the outcome, not excitement and adrenaline of life.
When you flip this tool on the other side, when you create this as a legitimate authentic dream and your potentiality and you put it in a “I have a dream” format, and do it scripted till you get goose pimples, success will be easy. It is a great exercise and tool to find the passion and deep reasons for why you want to accomplish something, you will find those great emotions to fuel your actions. I promise you, when you practice it on a daily basis just in replacement of your “I have a nightmare” or “I have an above average place where diets are hard or this business is hard for me,” everything changes. Everything becomes easy and you will give yourself goose pimples becoming the man or woman you want to be.
