Reality is not real

Reality is not real. Everybody thinks that what’s going on in the world is real, they say, “Wait a minute, I have bills to pay. The tsunami that swept through my life is real, the economy is real.” It’s not real, it’s unreal.

What exactly is reality and how is it created? What makes reality real is software.

Think about the little 3 lb. bag of fat, water, and micro-amperage of electricity called your brain. It’s a 3 lb. bag of fat cells and water and electricity! The thing that happened to you when you were 12, it’s just little tiny electrical blip today. Something awesome happened to you when you were 12 and something happened that was horrible, something that you worry is going to happen today. It’s a function of a hard drive. The hard drive is just like a computer, it has storage, RAM, processors, and physicality to it. But in any computer, beyond the scope and limitations of the hard drive, what is the most important part of the computer? Software! The programs!

What programs are you running? Are you running the latest, greatest, coolest, state of the art program? I apologize in advance to any hard core Mac users because I’m a PC guy, so if you have to translate my metaphor to Mac language that’s fine. But when I went from XP which I used for years and was an awesome workhorse software package, to Vista (I waited for like years) it was like the worst software! Not only was it bad, it was beyond bad. When you went to use it and convert your data to Vista, it actually put markers in the data field and it did not allow you to back out of it and go back to XP! You had to use vista. That’s why they were frantically rushing to get Windows 7 out. But when 7 came out, it fixed all the software issues in Vista.

I think Windows 7 is awesome, I use it today. But in the beginning when I went to use 7, if you go to print something there’s this giant button that says “Print”, you would think you press it and it would print right? Haha, no. I don’t know if you guys have had technical support, but I do most of my own tech support, so when I tried to print, it took me like 2 hours to figure it out.

So if we’re going to say reality is not real and it’s a function of software, if I tell you were going to run the latest and greatest, you’re going to process faster, you are going to have access to newer tools, that sounds really cool and sexy and awesome. But ponder this…

If you think about the applications that run on an operating system, Facebook for social, Quickbook for finances, marital software, parental software, etc., if you are running an old operating system and you are using the latest and greatest applications, what do you get? Do you get the full blown application? Or do you get what your operating system will allow in terms of potentiality and limitations?

So when people get a new job, they get in a new relationship, or they have something awesome happen, if they haven’t upgraded their operating system on what fear is, what failure is, what joy is, what success looks like, etc. , the operating system is going to drive what features and functionalities you can use in the application.

Upgrade your mental software and everything changes for you, your reality will be different, and you will literally be creating it!
